EZIO RANALDI

Visionary painting between memory, photography and imagination

Biography

Ezio Ranaldi was born in 1948 in Canosa di Puglia, the city where he lives and works. A self-taught artist, he has developed a personal poetics throughout his research that spans painting, photography and visual experimentation, moving between contemporary figuration and a visionary dimension.

His artistic journey is distinguished by a strong expressive freedom: far from academic conventions, Ranaldi builds a recognizable pictorial language, fueled by suggestions that dialogue with Italian metaphysics and surrealism, transforming everyday reality into settings suspended between memory and imagination.

Throughout his career, he has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad, exhibiting in various European cities and participating in art reviews and events dedicated to contemporary art.

Artistic Research

Ezio Ranaldi's painting often stems from photographic images captured in everyday life: faces, urban glimpses, gestures and presences that become the starting point of a pictorial transformation.

The artist reinterprets these images through color and composition, generating suspended and theatrical scenes, in which reality transforms into a symbolic narrative.

The figures that inhabit his works seem to emerge from an inner dimension, like presences that simultaneously belong to memory, dreams and imagination.

The female figure is particularly recurring, interpreted as a symbol of beauty, mystery and vital force. Through these faces and bodies, the artist explores themes of identity, emotional memory and the relationship between individual and space.

Curatorial Vision

Ezio Ranaldi's works are situated in a narrative dimension where painting and imagination build mental spaces and visual scenographies.

Each composition appears as a kind of silent theater, in which the characters become protagonists of an undeclared story, left to the viewer's interpretation.

Colors, perspectives and visual architectures generate a balance between figuration and dreams, transforming the canvas into a place of emotional crossing.

Ezio Ranaldi and the Arte4R Project

In the curatorial context of Micol Art Gallery and the Arte4R – Art that Regenerates project, Ezio Ranaldi's work naturally dialogues with the vision of an art capable of contaminating and transforming spaces.

His compositions, rich in symbolism and narrative atmosphere, lend themselves to being reinterpreted on architectural surfaces, contemporary materials and artistic interior design projects.

In this perspective, painting becomes visual matter capable of regenerating environments, objects and architectures, bringing artistic imagination beyond the canvas and into the spaces of everyday life.

The work thus becomes not only an image, but an aesthetic energy capable of transforming space, in full harmony with the mission of Micol Art Gallery: to bring art everywhere and regenerate the world through creativity.
