Giorgio De Camillis

Giorgio De Camillis is an Italian photographer and visual artist born in Treviso and active between Rome and the international scene. His research explores the language of photography as a tool for human, social, and cultural storytelling, exploring the realms of memory, identity, and the transformations of contemporary society.

After studying law, De Camillis soon developed a strong vocation for the photographic image, transforming his gaze into a means of investigating reality and the dynamics that shape the contemporary world. His work moves between art photography, photojournalism, and portraiture, with a particular sensitivity toward themes of migration, human relationships, and the cultural dimension of territories.

Throughout his career, he has collaborated with major editorial and cultural organizations, producing photo shoots and photojournalism for international magazines and photographic projects dedicated to the worlds of lifestyle, food & wine, and design. At the same time, he has developed an extensive career in advertising photography and portraiture, working with internationally renowned brands and companies.

His lens has captured significant figures from the cultural and artistic landscape, including Franco Zeffirelli, Mario Monicelli, Margherita Hack, Luis Sepúlveda, and Dacia Maraini, bearing witness through images to the complexity and richness of contemporary thought.

His artistic research has also developed through personal and group exhibition projects in Italy and abroad. Among his most significant exhibitions are Migrants of Yesterday and Today, Italians of Tomorrow, dedicated to the theme of migration and also presented at the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung in Rome, and the photographic series Black Gold and Feline Look, in which the artist explores the social dynamics related to migration phenomena and the symbolic relationship between femininity and the animal world, respectively.

His works have been exhibited in international contexts, including Art Expo Basel, Finity Gallery Berlin, and the ARTBOX.PROJECTS project during the Venice Biennale, confirming the international scope of his visual research.

Through photography, Giorgio De Camillis builds visual narratives capable of transcending cultures, territories, and personal stories, transforming the image into a space for reflection on the human being and their transformations over time.
