Description of the artwork

In Canoni, artist Ivano Petrucci presents a powerful deconstruction of the classical portrait, where the human physiognomy emerges from a whirlwind of chromatic energy and gestural materiality. The figure's face, while retaining an almost magnetic grace and realism, seems to continuously dissolve and recompose itself under the action of vibrant brushstrokes that redefine its boundaries.

The composition breaks traditional staticity through a layering of bold marks and colors: deep blues, intense reds, and sunny yellows blend with geometric fragments and flat areas of color, creating a contrast between the rigor of form and the freedom of emotion. The protagonist's gaze is the focal point of the work, an apparent point of calm in a constantly changing visual ecosystem, capable of establishing a silent and profound dialogue with the viewer.

The work does not simply represent a subject, but explores the very idea of perception. The fragmentation of features suggests the complexity of contemporary identity, made of overlaps and external influences. The light, which seems to emanate from within the face, contrasts with the decisive shadows and thick textures, giving the piece a psychological depth that invites introspection.
