Description of the artwork
In this artwork, Baldo Ingrassia abandons all explicit figurative references to immerse himself in pure abstraction, where color becomes the sole protagonist of the narrative. On a dense black background, the artist distributes textured brushstrokes and dynamic splashes, creating a scene that evokes an explosion of energy or the deconstruction of a primal memory.
The canvas is traversed by a dance of warm tones — earth tones, reds, and ochre — that intertwine with flashes of light blue and acid green. Two vertical lines, one golden on the left and one red on the right, act as rational pillars that seek to contain the central emotional turmoil. These linear elements suggest a structure, a boundary beyond which the chaos of feeling transforms into artistic expression.
The artwork explores the theme of inner complexity. The variety of marks and the chromatic layering represent the stratification of human experiences: moments of light and shadow that coexist in the same mental space. It is an invitation to the viewer to lose themselves in the chromatic detail to rediscover, in that apparent confusion, a personal order and a unique emotional resonance.
