Description of the artwork
In Genesis of Thought, Baldo Ingrassia temporarily abandons defined figuration to immerse himself in a magmatic and primordial abstraction. The artwork presents itself as an explosion of energy held against an absolute black background, which serves as a cosmic void or the unfathomable depths of the psyche.
The surface is animated by fragments of color — ochre, fiery red, white, and touches of yellow — that seem to float like particles of matter in formation or memories resurfacing from the darkness of oblivion. Some shapes vaguely recall organic or floral elements, suggesting that even in the most abstract chaos lies the seed of life and creation.
The brushstrokes are rapid, textured, and instinctive, creating a visual texture that invites the viewer to search for a personal order within the apparent disorder. The small golden globes and thin lines that traverse the space add an astral dimension, transforming the canvas into a map of an inner galaxy.
The artwork addresses the theme of creative potential: it is the exact moment when an idea takes shape out of nothingness, a spark of awareness that shines in the darkness. There is no linear narrative, but rather an invitation to feel the pure emotion of color and form in their nascent state.
