Description of the artwork
In Stairs, Baldo Ingrassia creates a scene suspended between dream and memory. A dark, irregular staircase crosses the space and leads toward a small, isolated house, enclosed in a black silhouette that evokes the shape of a human face. The composition immediately suggests a path: not an architectural one, but an inner journey.
The sky is fluid and luminous, composed of soft glazes and pastel colors that evoke a dreamlike dimension. The staircase becomes a symbol of growth, transition, and search: each step represents an experience, a choice, a moment in life that leads toward awareness.
The dynamic red shapes at the bottom introduce energy and emotional movement, while the small house at the top represents the place of arrival: the house as a metaphor for identity and one's inner self. The artwork therefore addresses the theme of the personal journey and transformation, where the path matters more than the destination.
