Description of the artwork
In I segreti, Claudio Giulianelli creates a scene immersed in a rarefied atmosphere, where the boundary between theatrical play and the dreamlike dimension fades into the clarity of an infinite horizon. The composition, dominated by a slender female figure with a sculptural headdress, is defined by a suspended gesture: the woman's hands, like those of a skilled puppeteer, seem to weave invisible threads that connect the different souls of the painting.
The landscape is not merely a physical place, but a state of mind. The color gradation, shifting from the intense, solid yellow of the base toward a vibrant cerulean blue, suggests a transition: the passage from the concreteness of the stage to the lightness of a dream. In this suspended setting, small emblematic figures—a waiting soldier and a preoccupied Pulcinella—represent the facets of human experience, between duty and mask.
The warm tones of the purple dress contrast with the graphic precision of the silhouettes and the vastness of the sky, creating a visual tension that invites introspection. The artwork plays with the concept of control and freedom: the central figure seems to govern the scene, while the secrets suggested by the title remain protected by the silence of the metaphysical landscape.
