Description of the work

In The Boundary of the Gaze, Giorgio De Camillis creates an intimate and rarefied scene, in which the inner space and the outside world meet in the dimness of filtered natural light. The profile of a face looks towards a pane of glass, a physical and symbolic threshold of a silent search.

The color gradation leads from the deep blacks of the hair and shadow towards the forest green and the warm tones of the skin. The transition from darkness to light suggests the movement from introspection to possibility, while the gaze turned outwards seeks a new awareness beyond the reflection.

The contrast between the somber tones and the beam of light hitting the profile creates a visual tension linked to waiting and melancholy. The darkness is not a void, but a space that protects the intimacy of thought.
