Artist: Stefano D'Acunto
Title: The Forbidden Fruit
Type: artist's proof
Year: contemporary
Description of the work
In The Forbidden Fruit, Stefano D'Acunto reinterprets a classic theme through a Caravaggesque and contemporary sensibility. The image emerges from a deep darkness that eliminates all spatial references and focuses the tension on gesture and light.
A hand reaches toward a golden fruit suspended among leaves and fragments of nature. The scene captures the moment before contact, charged with desire and discovery. The raking light shapes the hand with precision and illuminates the fruit with an almost supernatural brilliance.
The work becomes a metaphor for the pursuit of knowledge. The hand represents the aspiration toward that which is precious and potentially dangerous, while the contrast between darkness and light suggests the passage from matter to awareness.
