Description of the artwork
In this artwork, Baldo Ingrassia explores the moment of the emergence of consciousness, that thin boundary between the sleep of the unconscious and the lucidity of being. At the center of the composition, an ethereal face emerges from a nebula of dynamic brushstrokes and cosmic colors, as if it were being born from another dimension, suspended between dream and reality.
The artwork is dominated by a chromatic vortex that envelops and defines the features of the face: shades of deep blue, delicate pink, luminous yellow, and emerald green intertwine in an expressive and textured dance. The face is not completely defined, but suggested through essential strokes and nuances that evoke rather than describe. The eyes, barely hinted at, seem to look inward, in an act of deep contemplation.
The artwork addresses the theme of the awakening of consciousness: the moment in which the self emerges from the darkness to confront the light and the vastness of the universe that surrounds it. The face emerges from the primordial chaos of color, acquiring form and presence, but always maintaining a connection with the indistinct origin from which it comes.
