Description of the work
In The Veil of the Mask, Giorgio De Camillis introduces the viewer to a rarefied atmosphere, where the boundary between the tangible world and the inner dimension blurs in the warmth of a golden lace veil. The woman's face and her eyes emerge through the openwork fabric, transforming it into a visual threshold.
The color gradation moves from the deep tones of the neck to the luminous gold of the veil, suggesting a transition from the depth of being to the lightness of external perception. The warm colors contrast with the graphic precision of the lace and create a tension that invites introspection.
The fabric does not appear as an obstacle, but as a protection of intimacy and thought. The mask thus becomes a space of passage between what is shown and what remains guarded.
