Description of the artwork
In this artwork, Baldo Ingrassia explores the boundary between form and abstraction, staging a process of revelation. A human figure, outlined with thin golden lines, seems to struggle to emerge from a dense mass of textured darkness that dominates the center of the canvas.
The chromatic contrast is stark and symbolic: the deep black represents the unknown or the weight of the unconscious, while the touches of red and yellow (the latter isolated almost like a sun in the upper corner) indicate flashes of vitality, passion, and intellect seeking their way to the surface. The brushstrokes are broad and dynamic, conveying a sense of movement and emotional urgency.
The artwork addresses the theme of the resilience of identity: beauty lies not in the perfection of form, but in the courageous act of appearing and manifesting despite the darkness of the world. The human silhouette is fragile yet persistent, a profile of light that gives structure to the surrounding chaos.
