Description of the artwork
In The Architecture of Thought, Baldo Ingrassia explores the indissoluble link between human identity and built space. The face of a figure, outlined with a synthetic and noble golden stroke, serves as the foundation for an imaginary architecture: a light blue rectangle that stands out on top of the head, within which vertical structures similar to pillars or emerging skyscrapers take shape.
The artwork plays on strong chromatic and symbolic contrasts. The vibrant red at the base of the figure represents passion, instinct, and solid matter, while the light blue above evokes the dimension of dreams, rationality, and design. The black background, characteristic of the artist's production, isolates the subject in a cosmic void that emphasizes the solemnity of creative thought.
The gestural brushstrokes surrounding the face suggest energy in motion, as if ideas were gravitating around the mind before being formalized into architecture. The figure is not just a container of thoughts, but becomes the urban landscape it inhabits.
The artwork addresses the theme of the construction of the self: the human being is the architect of their own destiny and inner reality, transforming the static nature of matter into the verticality of vision.
