Description of the artwork
In La Lanterna del Tempo, Baldo Ingrassia takes us on a cosmic and introspective journey through a landscape dominated by dreamlike and symbolic elements. The artwork is structured around overlapping planes where the sky and the earth lose their natural boundaries.
The focal point is a large lantern suspended in a halo of golden light, emerging from a blanket of dark, tumultuous clouds. It represents guidance, reason, or hope illuminating the path through the darkness of the unknown. Below it, the composition opens into a dance of fluid forms: blue clouds intertwine with strokes of vibrant green, suggesting a nature that transforms into thought.
The human figures are once again stylized, reduced to their spiritual essence. A black silhouette, resembling a graphic sign, seems to point in a direction, while a figure crowned with a large red hat (almost like a petal or a sail) floats above the profile of a walled city, a symbol of civilization or historical memory.
The artwork explores the theme of destiny and the search for meaning within the chaos of becoming. The city, positioned at the base, appears small and protected, while the universe above it explodes in a storm of colors and lights, reminding us that man's true dimension is not physical space, but the infinity of his own imagination.
