Description of the artwork
In La mangiatrice di sorrisi, artist Ivano Petrucci creates a vibrant scene where human expressiveness becomes the center of a chromatic and textural explosion. The subject's face emerges from a dense texture of bold brushstrokes, where the smile, gracefully suggested, serves as a visual anchor in a whirlwind of creative energy.
The portrait is not a simple physiognomic representation, but an exploration of emotional dynamism. The color gradation, alternating deep, cool tones such as blue and purple with sudden bursts of fuchsia, orange, and red, suggests an overflowing vitality that transcends physical features. In this suspended setting, patches of color seem to float around the figure, representing the ephemeral and joyful nature of perception.
The warm, saturated tones contrast with the texture of pure whites and deep shadows, creating a visual tension that invites contemplation of the present moment. The artwork plays with the concept of fragmentation and unity: the subject's direct gaze invites the viewer into a dialogue, while the disintegration of forms encourages the search for an unconventional beauty. Color is not a mere ornament, but the very substance of character, transforming the fleetingness of an emotion into a moment of sacred connection with the viewer.
