Description of the artwork
In Lacrime di piombo, Eugenio Franzò presents a vision that is both intimate and universal: the archetype of maternity as the origin of identity. A female figure, adorned with a colorful headpiece and a vibrant dress, cradles a small creature in a timeless embrace.
The scene is immersed in an ethereal atmosphere, dominated by swirling brushstrokes of white and light blue that create a protective aura around the figures. The background, marked by textured patterns and incisions, suggests a spiritual landscape where the deep red of the earth blends with the lightness of the sky. At the top left, a textured solar disc, created with raised inserts, illuminates the composition like a silent guide.
The woman's dress is a mosaic of colors and fragments, symbolizing how identity is composed of a thousand pieces of memory and affection. Here, the architecture of the artwork is not made of houses, but of human bonds and flows of energy that envelop the mother and child in a whirlwind of life.
The artwork addresses the theme of personal identity through roots: the most important encounter is with one's origins. It is the dialogue between the life that protects and the life that is born, between the past represented by the wisdom of the adult figure and the future enclosed in the small being in her arms.
