Description of the artwork
In L'Anima e il Tempo, Baldo Ingrassia returns to explore the theme of inner dialogue, depicting the complex and often chaotic interaction between personal experience and the perception of time. At the center of the composition, a reclining and contemplative figure, outlined with an elegant golden stroke, is surrounded by an architecture of expressive and textured brushstrokes that float in the darkness of the background.
The artwork is dominated by a large and swirling 'portal' of colors (pink, emerald green, yellow), a kind of inner womb that transforms into a wide-open window onto a placid landscape at sunset (sky blue, peach, soft pink), the horizon of memory or desire. The presence of a smaller and 'fractured' fragment of the same landscape in the upper right corner suggests the selective and interrupted nature of memory: not a continuous flow, but a collection of visions and sensations that re-emerge.
The contrast between the sharpness of the golden silhouette and the swirling abstraction of color creates a palpable tension. The figure is not looking outside, but is visualizing and feeling the entire colored structure that surrounds it, absorbing the luminosity of the inner portal while immersed in the chaos of its own personal cosmos. The artwork explores the condition of the contemporary individual, who must constantly negotiate their own being (the golden form, finished and defined) with their emotional and temporal experience (the liquid and infinite forms of color).
L'Anima e il Tempo addresses the theme of self-awareness: the deepest encounter is not between the body and the horizon, but between the outer surface and the inner depth of being.
