Description of the work
In Le Ali del Tempo, Aldo Palin presents a domestic composition that slips into everyday surrealism. The frame is divided by a passage that separates two worlds: on the left, a wall that holds fragments of the past; on the right, the gaze opens onto a kitchen from another era and a city skyline made of rooftops.
The central element is the contrast between stillness and movement. The framed butterfly, motionless like a specimen, contrasts with the blurred silhouette of a second butterfly crossing the room, suggesting a life that eludes classification and time. The old rotary phone, hanging on the wall, becomes the symbol of communication belonging to memory, a suspended link between the caller and the one who can no longer answer.
The warm, diffused light illuminating the interior clashes with the clear sky visible through the window, creating a depth that is not only spatial but emotional. The kitchen, with its decorated tiles and everyday objects, is not just a room, but the beating heart of an identity nourished by memories.
The work addresses the theme of metamorphosis and permanence: the home is the cocoon in which memories take flight, transforming everyday life into a metaphysical experience.
