Description of the artwork
In Le inseparabili, Eugenio Franzò creates a scene suspended between reality and memory, where figuration blends with a profound exploration of texture. Two female silhouettes, outlined in a vibrant blue that accentuates their spiritual nature, stand out against an anthracite grey background, dense and layered like the stone or concrete of history.
The artwork is a triumph of collage and layering: the protagonists' voluminous dresses are composed of fragments of printed paper, newspaper clippings and decorative patterns that seem to tell of past lives and accumulated stories. At the top, inserts of corrugated cardboard and metal foil evoke industrial architecture or the rooftops of distant cities, while a small circular sun dominates the scene like a metaphysical eye.
The warm tones of ochre, reds and browns within the figures contrast with the cold austerity of the background and the luminosity of the blue outline, creating a visual tension that suggests introspection. Here, the body is not merely flesh, but becomes a vessel for signs and languages.
The artwork addresses the theme of personal identity through doubling: the two figures represent the perpetual dialogue between our public and private images, between the weight of the material world surrounding us and the lightness of the soul seeking to emerge.
