Description of the artwork
In Leggerezza, Eugenio Franzò presents a scene suspended between palpable reality and inner vision. A stylized female figure, almost ethereal with her featureless face, dominates the composition. She is not merely a woman, but an icon of identity: a temple of memories emerging from the earth.
Her body, clothed in a dress that is a collage of textures, tears, and newspaper words, is a “garment of the soul.” The text clippings and layers of color (deep blue, vibrant green, hints of orange) symbolize the layers of experiences, memories, and stories that make up our inner identity.
The figure is immersed in a field evoking wild and expressive vegetation, formed by textured brushstrokes and material collages in shades of bright green and sunny yellow, with flashes of orange. The plant forms blend with the skirt, suggesting a profound connection between the individual and nature. In the upper right, a circular and geometric sun, made of corrugated cardboard, serves as an attractive focal point, illuminating the scene and adding another material element.
The artwork addresses the theme of personal identity: the deepest encounter is not between two external entities, but between the individual and their essence, between their physical form and the complex layering of their memories and dreams.
