Description of the artwork
In this artwork, Baldo Ingrassia presents an allegory of the human journey through golden symbols that stand out against a dense and meditative darkness. At the center of the visual narrative is a stylized cyclist who seems to be pulling the world along, suggesting the constant effort and individual responsibility involved in forging one's own existential path.
The composition is enriched by icons of intellectual and everyday life: an inkwell with a pen ready to write, a nest welcoming life, and a mill evoking work and the cyclical passage of time. Like windows flung open to emotion, geometric fragments of textured and chromatically vibrant landscapes — from the deep blues of the mountains to the vivid reds of an inner sunset — break the stillness of the black background.
The artwork explores the theme of knowledge and action: writing as memory and the bicycle as movement toward the unknown. Ingrassia invites the viewer to reflect on the balance needed to harmonize their aspirations (the blue peaks) with the reality of everyday life (the mill, the nest), reminding us that every individual is the author and the driving force of their own destiny.
