Description of the work
In Lo Sguardo sull’Oltre, Giorgio De Camillis constructs a meta-artistic scene in which the boundary between observer and artwork dissolves in the dim light of a contemporary gallery. A male figure seen from behind stops in front of two framed photographs, creating an image that reflects on the very act of looking.
The man is not merely a visitor, but becomes part of the composition. The hanging artworks take on the character of windows into inner worlds, while the protagonist's gaze traverses them like an invisible bridge.
Contemplation is not a passive gesture, but an inner journey. The observer's solitude thus transforms into a silent relationship with the image and with what lies beyond the visible surface.
