Description of the artwork
In Nel tempo, Ivano Petrucci explores the depth of the human face as a territory where memories and vital impulses are layered. The figure, captured in a moment of intense introspection, emerges from a neutral and luminous background, pierced by a sudden explosion of chromatic fragments that seem to orbit the mind like visible thoughts.
The artwork is a hymn to the persistence of being through the passage of years. The color gradation plays on bold contrasts: the solidity of the figure, rendered in warm and natural tones, is struck by touches of electric blue, primary yellow, and carmine red, suggesting that “time” is not a process of erosion, but of accumulation of energy and awareness. The textured brushstrokes, typical of the dialogue between acrylic and oil, give the portrait an almost electric vibration.
The bright tones and controlled drips contrast with the almost sculptural precision of the gaze, creating a visual tension that prompts the viewer to reflect on their own inner evolution. The artwork plays on the concept of permanence and change: the stillness of the face represents the immutable essence, while the dynamism of the surrounding colors embodies the becoming of experience. Time is not a limit, but an expanded dimension where emotion crystallizes into art.
