Description of the artwork
In Palindrome, artist Ivan Cagnani captures the essence of nature through a distorted and hypnotic chromatic lens, transforming a natural detail into an architecture of pure light and color. The composition unfolds through an intricate network of branches that stand out against a golden-yellow sky, creating a dense texture that seems to vibrate with electrical energy.
The artwork is not a simple botanical representation, but a reflection on symmetry and the reversibility of visual experience, as suggested by the title. The purple and fuchsia tones of the branches contrast sharply with the sun-drenched background, creating a chromatic tension that evokes infrared photography or a thermal vision of plant life. This shift in the visual spectrum transports the viewer into an alien yet familiar world, where the structure of the plant becomes a metaphor for neural connections or a universal circulatory system.
The low-angle perspective accentuates the sense of ascension and infinite expansion. The small flowers or buds, which appear as points of incandescent light among the purple shadows, represent the cyclical rhythm of rebirth. In Palindrome, nature is stripped of its usual guise to reveal its geometric strength and intrinsic complexity, inviting a reading that can be followed in any direction, just like a palindromic word.
The artwork is created on an aluminum support: a rigid, flat, and durable surface that enhances the brilliance and depth of the colors. It is the ideal choice for abstract art, contemporary photography, and modern spaces seeking a bold piece capable of illuminating the environment with unprecedented chromatic power.
