Description of the artwork

In Thoughts in Flight, Giorgio De Camillis creates one of his most poetic and dreamlike compositions. The flowing hair of a female figure gradually dematerializes, transforming into a flock of black birds that rise toward an ethereal sky. The metamorphosis is not abrupt but gradual, as if the thoughts themselves were taking shape and freeing themselves into the air.

The composition is built on an upward tension: the birds move away from the figure toward the sky, creating a sense of liberation and lightness.

The artwork explores the theme of freedom of thought and its ability to transcend the limits of the physical body. The “thoughts in flight” of the title are those we cannot hold back, which break free and take on a life of their own, transforming into something greater and more elusive.
