Description of the artwork
In this composition, Baldo Ingrassia combines painterly gesture with figurative evocation. A barely suggested face emerges from the dark background, built through layers of color and dynamic marks. The figure is not fully defined: it appears and disappears within the paint, like a memory or a vision.
The contrasts between deep black, luminous yellows, and secondary chromatic touches create a strong visual tension. Lines and trajectories traverse the space like connections or mental paths, while circular shapes suggest symbolic and interior dimensions.
The artwork addresses the theme of identity and perception: what is seen is not a realistic portrait but the emotional trace of a presence. The face becomes the meeting point between reality and imagination, between matter and thought.
