A wooden chair with sinuous lines finds a contemporary voice through Roberta Serafini's creative regeneration, as part of Micol Art Gallery's Arte4R project. The open medallion backrest and curved front legs dialogue with a grey upholstered seat, embellished with a contrasting graphic application.
Before: a story to continue
In the photograph of the initial state, the chair features a wood-colored finish and a pink upholstered seat. The curvilinear profile of the structure is the common thread of the transformation.

During: the structure takes center stage
The intermediate photograph shows the frame without the seat and the wood surfaces exposed. A phase that makes the form of the furniture readable before its new interpretation.

After: a contemporary identity
In the final result, the structure takes on a light and patinated appearance, with contrasts that emphasize its profiles. The grey upholstery and graphic application introduce a contemporary accent, while leaving the character of the chair recognizable.

Stylistic inspiration and historical notes
The medallion backrest and sinuous lines recall the Louis Philippe style, which spread in France during the reign of Louis Philippe, between 1830 and 1848. A more sober language compared to previous ceremonial furnishings, characterized by soft curves and attention to domestic comfort. These forms were also adopted later: the stylistic reference therefore does not certify the era or origin of this chair. The essence of the wood and the composition of the upholstery are not documented.
Arte4R: the value of transformation
Recovery, Restoration, Regeneration, and Reuse: the project enhances existing furnishings through manual craftsmanship and new expressive choices. This sheet tells the photographic journey from the pink seat to the grey reinterpretation.
