Description of the artwork
In Soglia del giorno, Baldo Ingrassia creates a scene suspended between reality and inner space. The female figure, rendered with an essential and luminous line, emerges from the dark background as a silent presence. It is not a realistic portrait, but an emotional state.
Around the body, the paint opens up into chromatic fragments and horizons of light. The landscape in the background appears as a threshold: a line of passage between night and day, between interiority and the outside world. The figure is not sleeping, but contemplating. She is placed in a moment of transformation.
The artwork reflects on personal change and awareness. The “threshold” of the title represents the point where what has been makes way for what can become. The body becomes a symbol of the human experience, while the light indicates possibility and the future.
