Description of the artwork
In this work, Baldo Ingrassia delves into the realms of figurative abstraction, where the boundary between form and chaos becomes extremely thin. The composition is dominated by a deep, textured darkness from which emerges, almost by subtraction or as an epiphany, the ethereal silhouette of a human profile.
The face is not defined by direct brushstrokes, but revealed by a dense texture of chromatic marks that surround it like a forest of thoughts or a cosmic nebula. Shades of gold, ochre, and acid green scratch through the darkness, suggesting a vitality that pulses beneath the surface of silence. If in other works the dialogue was between two figures, here the encounter is solitary and spiritual: it is the moment when consciousness emerges from the indistinct.
The chromatic choices and fragmented application convey a sense of mystery and introspection. The artwork does not represent a physical place, but a state of mind: the search for an inner light that resists the surrounding darkness. It is a reflection on the complexity of identity, which often hides in the shadows before revealing itself to the world.
