Description of the artwork
In Suspension, Baldo Ingrassia presents a solitary figure captured in a moment of extreme introspective synthesis. A golden silhouette, seated in a fetal or curled-up position, floats on a dashed line of intense red, which serves as the sole element of stability in an otherwise abstract and dynamic visual universe.
The deep black background is pierced by textured, vibrant brushstrokes of green, yellow, and light blue, which seem to float around the figure like fragments of an emotional explosion or thoughts in the making. The red line is not merely a base, but represents the boundary, the thin threshold between the stability of the present and the uncertainty of the inner void.
The mixed media technique enhances the contrast between the essentiality of the line defining the body and the chromatic richness of the spatial debris that crowns it. The figure's posture suggests a protective withdrawal, a return to the original core of being to shield oneself from the turbulence of the outside world.
The artwork addresses the theme of precarious balance: the individual is called to find their own center on a thin line, in a constant dialogue between their own weakness and the chaotic energy of life.
