Description of the work
In Velo, Giorgio De Camillis creates a portrait of intense suggestion, in which the face emerges from a dense and textured surface. The subject is never completely visible: a veil, physical or metaphorical, stands between the figure and the observer, creating a space of mystery and anticipation.
The composition explores the tension between what is revealed and what remains hidden. Layering and nuances evoke the fragmentary nature of memory and the fragility of identity, filtered by time, emotions, and the gaze of others.
