Description of the work

In Beyond History, Giorgio De Camillis creates a dialogue between classical painting and contemporary photography. The composition reinterprets Delacroix's The Death of Sardanapalus, inserting elements of the present into a scene of strong visual dynamism.

The comparison between eras and languages invites us to look at art history with new eyes: to cross the past does not mean forgetting it, but discovering its resonances in the present.
