Stefano D'Acunto
Parallel Worlds

Stefano D'Acunto is a contemporary figurative painter born in Turin on January 2, 1973. His artistic exploration is based on the balance between classical technique and visionary spirituality, in a constant dialogue between form, light, and introspection. He draws on the Renaissance and Baroque traditions, reinterpreting them with a modern sensibility and rejecting dominant abstraction in favor of the values of figurative art.
D'Acunto's painting combines academic rigor with emotional pathos, evoking Caravaggio's theatricality and Michelangelo's grace. Through a masterful use of chiaroscuro, the artist transforms light into a narrative and spiritual tool, bringing to life the emotions and symbols that inhabit his subjects.
The 2024 retrospective exhibition Stefano D'Acunto. The New Caravaggio, held at the Sala del Cenacolo – Palazzo Valdina in Rome, established him as one of the leading figures in contemporary Italian figurative art.
Artistic Exploration
- Dramatic chiaroscuro – light and shadow as tools of inner revelation
- Classical figuration – the centrality of the human figure and balanced composition
- Visual spirituality – the representation of the divine, the sacred, and human fragility
- Traditional technique – oil on canvas and glazing, with warm, deep colors
Micol Art Gallery
Within the curatorial vision of Micol Art Gallery, Stefano D'Acunto represents the great Italian figurative tradition reinterpreted in a contemporary context. His works engage in a dialogue with space and the viewer, bringing light, symbolism, and depth into lived environments.
“When art meets truth and the power of imagination becomes reality, that mysterious boundary is traced: his works are the exaltation of the wisdom of a light that, trapped in color, becomes the master and cornerstone of his distinctive artistic style.”
